When it comes to predicting the weather, I try to maintain my patience as much as possible. I understand that it is an incredibly challenging job. People aren’t going to be right all of the time. My patience is wearing thin though. I guess these guys will do anything to get you to watch television.

This is the second supposed major storm that we were supposed to get hit with this year. Both of them have been duds in my opinion. The south towns got some snow. Big friggin deal. If you live in the south towns then you expect it to snow pretty much every friggin day once winter rolls around. It is the rest of us who live outside the normal snow belt areas that actually pay attention to the winter weather forecast.

I am really beginning to believe that creating sensationalistic journalism on television is more of a motivating factor behind these weather predictions than providing accurate reporting is. I want one station, just one fricken station, to provide reasonably accurate weather forecasts instead of hyping everything up so we watch the last ten minutes of a news broadcast.

As far as I am concerned, all of the people who overhyped these last two wannabe supposed big time storms or the bosses who made them report it that way should be demoted in their professions. Put someone in charge who is going to give us as close to honest reporting as possible so we need not fret over another 2 inches of snow. For Christ’s sake people.

So now there are all of these places closed that could otherwise have been operating perfectly. Like most area schools for instance, just because some weatherman got a hard on when he saw a blue cloud on his Doppler radar map that was heading toward Buffalo.

Anyone who has grown up in the area could have told you without looking at any Doppler radar screens that it would snow hard south of the city. Whoa! That is some serious weather prediction. You schmucks.

This just goes to show what a wonderful bunch of brilliant scientists we have at our American universities teaching these guys how to fail miserably at their jobs. These same scientists think that they are qualified to predict climate change. They claim to understand it enough to blame mankind for its existence. Hey guys. How about you learn to predict the weather in Buffalo before you go telling the rest of the world that you know how to predict the weather for the entire globe. You friggin idiots.

People are shocked to hear that Buffalo got its first snowfall of the season on December 1st this year.

I can’t believe we made it all the way to December first without any snowfall. This is unbelievable. I usually look forward to the snow to cover the ground in mid November. That makes it a lot easier to see and track the deer when you are deer hunting. Plus I hate having a green Christmas.

We have had green Christmases before. They aren’t as much fun. What is the point of living in an area that gets so much snow if you cannot have it for the holidays? I think it was some pope who decided that Christmas should be celebrated on December 25th. Jesus’ actual birthday was in late winter or early spring I think. Most people don’t know that. It was a church leader who decided we should celebrate it on December 25.

I wish they had chose January 25th or February 25th instead. Then we would always have a white Christmas. Plus, we could look forward to all the snow melting soon after Christmas. The way it is now, Christmas just reminds us that the snow is going to be with us for another few months.

It is easy to enjoy the snow right up till about New Years day. After that everyone around here can’t wait for it to melt and go away. Unfortunately, we are just getting started with it at that point. Most of the major snowfall comes during January and February.

With it being warm up till now, we are also at risk for major lake effect snow storms blowing in from Lake Erie. During years when the lake doesn’t freeze until later it usually ends up being more snowy than normal. This is a real possibility this year.

Nothing beats summers in Western New York even though sometimes they take a long time to get here. Remind all those people who moved out of the area for a better job. Remind them how good it feels to be able to sit outside sipping a beer under a shade tree on a June, July or August afternoon. If they live pretty much anywhere south of Pennsylvania, they are going to be sitting inside an air conditioned room in front of a television or something. Where would you rather be?

Aside from summer, who would pass up that feeling you get when the leaves start falling. You get that feeling that football is in the air. Hell yeah!

Remember, the only real weather threat we have to worry about around here is an occasional blizzard or ice storm. (lol) In my opinion, it sure beats having to nail a bunch of plywood over your windows when a hurricane is on its way or having to run into the basement and pray that you don’t get to find out what it is like to be Dorothy in a real life wizard of oz experience.

It is a shame that the summers go by so fast though. If your life is anything like mine, about half way through June, every remaining weekend in the summer is spoken for between graduation parties, holiday parties, weddings and other commitments.
